Die skool open op 5 Januarie 1982 met Mnr. G.F. Botes, ‘n afgetrede skoolhoof as eerste waarnemende hoof.

Mnr. D.A. T.E.

The school opened on 5 January 1982 with Mr. G.F. Botes, a retired headmaster, as acting principal.  Pupils from Laerskool Nelspruit and Laerskool Bergland were enrolled.  Only the Junior Department was in operation because the other classrooms had not been completed.

The first 9 staff members were seconded from Laerskool Nelspruit and Laerskool Bergland.  At the start of the second term, the first grd 4 – 7 pupils were enrolled and a further 9 members of staff were seconded.

The official name Laerskool Laeveld and the slogan: Ken Hom en Leef was approved in 1983.  Mr. D.A. Barnard was the first permanent head master from the third term in 1982.  Because the Transvaal Education Department (TED) froze all funds for developing of sport grounds the then school committee decided to go ahead with the developing of the terrain in 1982.  a Start was made with the rugby field and athletic track.  The whole sport complex was financed by parents.

Currently we have two rugby fields, an athletic track, a cricket pitch with three cricket nets, a sement pavilion with 30 meters under cover, 4 netball / tennis courts combined, spotlights and a large grass roofed reception area. We also have a neat ablution facility for the sport field.

The present headmaster is Mr.T.E. Krüger and the scholars increased from 553 in 1982 to over 1 000 learners.
